A Dhaka court on Sunday issued warrant against national cricketer Arafat Sunny in connection with a dowry case filed by a woman who claims to be his wife.
Sunny received an ad-interim bail on April 6 in the dowry case but it was withdrawn as he failed to attend the court on July 16 that was scheduled for his hearing.
The case was filed by Nasrin Sultana, a 23-year old woman, against Sunny and his mother with the court on charge of demanding Tk 20 lakh as dowry on January 23.
She filed another case under the Information and Communication Technology act, following which Sunny was arrested, and subsequently, granted bail in January.
After recording Nasrin’s statement, a Dhaka metropolitan magistrate exempted Sunny’s mother Nargis Akter from the charge and asked Sunny to appear before the court on April 6.
