Sri Lanka’s captain Dinesh Chandimal faulted his bowlers after they failed to defend a total of 214 against Bangladesh in the tri-nation Nidahas Trophy.
“It was a good game of cricket. We put up a very good total, but it was actually too good of a wicket for the batters. As a bowling unit I think we were below par today and we didn’t execute our plans well,” the 28-year-old Sri Lankan captain told journalists after the loss.
Bangladesh’s five-wicket win saw all three teams with one win each after round one. It was the fourth highest successful run chase in the history of T20I cricket and the highest in Sri Lanka with the previous best being Pakistan’s 178 for two against Bangladesh during the T20 WC in 2012 at Pallekele.
