Sri Lanka two wins away from a 2019 World Cup berth

Sri Lanka have a shot at directly qualifying for the ICC World Cup 2019.Sri Lanka, currently ranked eighth with 88 points, are tailgated by Windies on 78 points. Pakistan (95 points) and Bangladesh (94 points) stay clear of the last-minute qualification hassle, courtesy impressive performances in the recently-concluded ICC Champions Trophy, and so it is a direct shoot-out between Sri Lanka and Windies before the cut-off date, that happens to be September 30, 2017.

Two wins in the upcoming series against India will accord 90 points to Sri Lanka, which will be two points beyond Windies even if the latter wins the lone ODI against Ireland (September 13) and all five ODIs against England (September 19-29).

In case Sri Lanka muster just one win against India, they stand a chance to be usurped on decimal points, that is if Windies win all their six ODIs against Ireland and England.
