Scores: Sri Lanka 162/10 in 46.3 overs (Yasoda Mendis 34; Afy Fletcher 3-24) lost to Windies 163/3 in 39.4 overs (Stafanie Taylor 60*) by seven wickets.
All-round Stafanie Taylor helped Windies Women clinch the three-match series against Sri Lanka with a seven-wicket win in the second game at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad on Friday (October 13).
Sri Lanka got off to a steady start with the openers – Nipuni Hansika (18) and Yasoda Mendis (34) – scoring 53 for the first wicket. They moved to 72 for 1 in the 17th over but a similar script unfolded. Windies fought back with quick wickets and the visitors weren’t able to come out of the wobble.
Once Mendis, Chamari Atapattu (31) and Dilani Manodara (26) were dismissed, the rest of the batting fell apart rather quickly. From 72 for 1, they nosedived 129 for 7 by the 38th over and that proved to be the decisive period in the game.
