Trinbago Knight Riders have brought on Ashley nurse to replace the Bangladesh spinner Mehedi Hasan for the remainder of the Caribbean Premier League 2017. Mehedi Hasan, who has been named in the first-Test squad for the upcoming two-match series at home against Australia, would not be available for the season for the table-toppers.
Nurse, Barbados-born off-spinner, has played 18 ODIs and four T20Is for Windies and plied his trade for Barbados Tridents in previous editions of the CPL. Making the switch to the new franchise, Nurse would be available for selection in Knight Riders’ next game against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, slated for Wednesday (August 21).
Speaking of Nurse’s selection for the rest of the tournament Simon Katich, the Knight Riders’ head coach, said: “Ashley gives us another spin option. He has been playing some league cricket in England so he comes fresh to us from there.
“Dwayne Bravo was very keen to get him into the squad given that we have still got some big games coming up against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, Jamaica Tallawahs and Barbados Tridents. He will have a big role to play giving us another spin option.”
