Australia tour of England, 2018.
AUS 310/8 (50.0 Ovs)
ENG 314/4 (44.4 Ovs)
PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Jason Roy, Man of the Match: It’s been good fun, ya. I am feeling like I have got myself into a training routine. Feeling good that I am doing the job for the team. Just trying to control and pace my innings. Unfortunately couldn’t carry on after the century. Was concentrating on taking the catch (Marsh’s dismissal) and tuck it to someone, was lucky that I threw it to the big fellow (Overton).
Eoin Morgan, England captain: I thought we played pretty solid cricket today. Having lost the toss and Australia winning the toss, our objective was to restrict them to total that could be later chased on. I think it depends on conditions. The wicket was really good. At the halfway stage it was a total well within our grasp. He’s (Overton) a young fellow, he came in and grabbed the opportunity. He might get an opportunity in the next game too as we go to Manchester. It’s a ground we have enjoyed, hopefully it goes well there.
Tim Paine, Australia captain: I thought we were 30-40 short. We got ourselves in a good position, but failed to capitalize in the last 10 overs. We dropped the catch and lost the momentum. Jason and Jonny are really in good touch. I am trying to enjoy but you gotta catch those. We came here as an inexperienced side, but that can’t be an excuse. This is a good chance for the young players and a good experience for them.
