All-rounder Nasir Hossain and pace bowler Shafiul Islam look all set to return to the Test squad for the upcoming home series against Australia.
It is learnt that the team management has already formed their 14-member squad for the opening Test match against Australia that is scheduled to be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium from August 27.
The inclusion of the duo will come at the expense of experienced campaigner Mahmudullah and Mominul Haque, both of whom were dropped from the team that played Bangladesh’s previous Test match against Sri Lanka.
It is understood that the selectors were forced to include Nasir after the terrific form he has shown at the domestic level across formats in the last few months.
“We just don’t want to disrupt the winning combination,” said a member of the team management on request of anonymity.
“We are trying to make sure that we have all our options and so we had included Nasir. We have to keep a back-up of Mossadek as still there are some kind of uncertainty due to his eye,” he added.
