Rangana Herath completed his 32nd five-wicket haul in Test cricket as he finished with 5 for 93 in Pakistan’s first innings of the first Test against Sri Lanka here in Abu Dhabi on Sunday (October 1).
“It is not an easy wicket for the spinners. Until the fourth day of the Test match, only 24 wickets have fallen and that gives you an indication as to how tough it is for the bowlers. It wasn’t easy to pick up five wickets. I am very pleased with the effort,” Herath said.
“Actually I have played more games against Pakistan. I think of my 84 Test matches, 20 have been against Pakistan. That is the reason I have lot of wickets against them,” noted Herath.
“Kusal is the key. He needs to bat for a longer period. He also needs to be positive. We have Niroshan Dickwella and Dilruwan Perera and hopefully we will get to a decent total,” Herath said of Mendis.
