India opener, Murali Vijay has been ruled out of the three-Test series against Sri Lanka that starts on July 26 with a wrist injury. Shikhar Dhawan will replace Vijay for the series, the BCCI confirmed through a media release.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee on Monday named Shikhar Dhawan as the replacement for injured Murali Vijay in the Test team, which is scheduled to travel to Sri Lanka for a three-match Test series,” BCCI said through a media release.
Vijay played with a fractured wrist during part of India’s marathon 13-match home Test season. After playing the first Test against Australia, he missed the Bengaluru Test and then returned for the last two matches of the series.
