Vinod Rai, head of the Committee of Administrators (CoA), was all praise for Anil Kumble saying his role was ‘absolutely impeccable’ and he did very well as coach of the Indian team. Rai also impressed that Virat Kohli, the incumbent India captain, will have no say in who the next coach of the Indian team will be.
Kohli’s side is currently in the Caribbean taking part in a five-ODI series. The team is without a coach, with MV Sridhar supervising the team during their short tour. This after Kumble, the former coach, stepped down citing difference between him and captain Kohli. Kumble was at the end of his contract, and was offered an extension for the West Indies series which he refused. India are expected to replace Kumble by the time they head to Sri Lanka for a full series.
“Kumble’s role has been absolutely impeccable. He has done very well as a coach. We will go in for an equally good professional to ensure that whether it is the captain or manager, there should be cohesion in the team. What’s there to discuss in the coach-captain issue? Listen, what’s Anil Kumble statement, don’t go by any statement. One good thing about India media is that India media doesn’t look into houses, bedrooms, so please don’t look into dressing room,” he added.
