Liam Plunkett called up to England Lions squad

England News: Yorkshire’s fast bowler Liam Plunkett has been called up to the England Lions squad for their three day tour match against South Africa at Worcester. Plunkett, who was surprisingly left out of Yorkshire’s squad for their Championship match against Surrey which starts tomorrow (June 26), replaces Somerset quick Jamie Overton, who has a back injury, in the Lions squad.
He has also been in excellent form for England with the white ball in recent times – his last 11 ODIs have brought him 25 wickets – although his returns over the last two years for Yorkshire in first-class cricket, albeit in limited opportunities, have hardly set the world alight. Nevertheless, a good performance for the Lions could press his claims for a first Test match since 2014 when he took four wickets against India at Lord’s.
