Jacques Kallis: One of the best All-rounders the world has ever seen

It’s hard to find players like Jacques Kallis, players who are not only excellent batsman but also outstanding bowlers. Kallis, the right-hand batsman and right-arm fast medium bowler play for South

Africa. He was one of the biggest assets of his team. At many occasions, Kallis has brought victory for his team. He made some of the most difficult games seemed easy. Many a time, Kallis single-handedly took his team to the victory. Because of his outstanding performance throughout his career, he has been awarded as one of the best cricket players many times. People look up to him in order to learn about cricket.

Early Life

Kallis was born on 16th October 1975. Even has a kid, Kallis was a big fan of cricket. He attended the Wynberg Boy’s High School. He was a part of their cricket team as well. Due to his outstanding and exceptional skills in cricket, Wynberg named their main cricket oval after Kallis. Kallis got engaged to Cindy Nell, who was Miss South Africa in 2002, but after nine months of relationship they broke up. Ater some time he became interested in Marisa Eggli, the first runner-up of Miss South Africa. However, this also didn’t work. Then Kallisbecame interested in the South African model, Shamone Jardim and they dated for almost six years.

Domestic Career

Kallis started representing the West Province/Cape Cobras in 1993, later he also started to play for Middlesex cricket team. In 1999, Kallis started to play for Glamorgan and in 2008-2010, he joined hands with Royal challengers Bangalore. Then in 2011-2014, he played for Kolkata Knight Riders in Indian Premier League. From 2014 till now he is playing for Sydny Thunder.

International Career

Kallis made his first Test debut back in 1995 against England. The match took place on the 14th of December and Kallis performed exceptionally well during the match. His last test place was on 26th December 2013 against India. In his entire Test Career, Kallis played 166 Test matches and scored 13,289 runs with a batting average of 55.37. He made 45 centuries, 58 half-centuries and his top score was 224 in the Test format of the game. He bowled 20,232 bowls and took 292 wickets. His best was 6/65 and bowling average of 32.65. Kallis was able to take five wickets in an innings 5 times in his Test Career. Kallis is among the four players in the world who made a century in five consecutive matches.

He played the first ODI match against England on 9th January 1996. In his ODI Career, he played 325 matches, scored 11,574 runs with a batting average of 45.13. He made 17 centuries, 86 half-centuries and his top score was 139. He bowled 10, 750 balls with a bowling average of 31.79. Kallis has taken 273 wickets in his ODI career and he managed to take 5 wickets in a match twice. His best on One Day International format of the game was 5/30. The last ODI played by Kallis was on 12th July 2014 and it was against Sri Lanka. His ODI Shirt number was 8, 4, 3 and 6.
