National Cricket Club celebrates World Environment Day

Kolkata, Jun 5 (PTI) Taking a cue from the GreenInitiative of the BCCI, the National Cricket Club on theoccasion of the World Environment Day initiated a programmecalled “Cricket for Environment”, which includes planting ofsaplings and distribution of waste bins at Eden Gardens aswell as other grounds in Kolkata Maidan.

“Today, being the World Environment Day, we thought ofencouraging young budding cricketers about awareness and therole they can play as youth of the country in balancing natureby way of planting of trees and nurturing it,” NCC presidentand CAB joint secretary Avishek Dalmiya said.

“We are also extremely impressed with the greeninitiative conceived by BCCI President, Mr Anurag Thakur. Themoves would help in preserving and improving the environment”,Dalmiya added.

“Apart from planting plenty of saplings at the iconicEden Gardens and other grounds in Kolkata Maidan, theinitiative also included ‘Take a walk to Dump’ programme whichfeatured distribution of waste bins,” NCC secretary NirajKajaria said.
